5 ways to encourage your baby or toddler to engage and play with you
1) Join your child's play by imitating what he is doing and talking about what the two of you are doing (e.g., "It's fun to make trains together").
2) Exaggerate and change your affect. Use exaggerated facial expressions, gestures, sounds and words. Use a sing-song voice.
3) Prioritize engagement over compliance
4) Minimize clutter and the amount of toys in the play space
5) Consider your child's sensory and motor preferences and incorporate these into your play
